Course Introduction

The primary purpose of this qualification is to develop and confirm your occupational knowledge, competence and skills when working in a job role in a specialist area and/or across a varied range of responsibilities under the direction of a teacher who has overall responsibility for teaching and learning in a classroom.

The Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning nested qualification VLHS’s range of Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualifications sit within NCFE CACHE’s nested suite of courses. Students can top up their studies to achieve the full nested qualification if they desire, or study one qualification type alone. The nested qualification starts with the award, then the certificate, and finally the diploma.

Each of the courses in this nested qualification will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to work with children and young people in primary, secondary, or SEN schools, allowing you to become a fully qualified teaching assistant on completion of the course.

Assessment

Students will be required to complete a number of assignments. Your personal tutor will review, mark and provide you with feedback on your work.

​

All units are internally assessed. Assessment enables the learner’s workplace practice to provide evidence for individual units as well as the whole qualification. This course requires an assessment of your practical skills within your working environment. It is essential that you secure a placement that can provide you with a suitably qualified teacher and workplace assessor who can observe you, comment on your skills and write a report to meet the assessment requirements. This direct observation will be used as evidence towards your qualification.

Learner support

The course is designed for study by distance learning at work and at home. Students receive course manual, assignments and tutor support by mail and email. You can start at any time and plan your studies over a period of up to one year from the time of enrolment.
